The most effective method of rendering hazardous waste harmless while recovering the energy contained in them is high-temperature combustion at approx. 1300°C, with a long residence time. Central to this technology are the rotary kiln and the secondary combustion chamber, where the most toxic constituents are thermally broken down and destroyed. Wastes are reduced to a fraction of their initial volume.
